RAWALPINDI:
In connection with World Water Day, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) organised a walk on Thursday to create awareness about importance of utilising water wisely and declining reserves in the region. WASA Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mahmood said it was vital to expand on water sources to overcome water shortage, especially in the Potohar region.

He said construction of the Chirah and Daducha Dams in Potohar should begin immediately to help solve the problem of water shortage.

Mahmood said that WASA Rawalpindi is making every effort to provide clean drinking water to the citizens while also teaching them to conserve water and utilise it carefully. He appealed to consumers that the situation demanded preservation of water and they could play a pivotal role to conserve and minimise its wastage.

He further said WASA and CDA are working in cooperation on Indus River Project to get 200 million gallons of water daily which would help accomodate the twin cities’ water requirements.
