Up to 700-year old: Rare manuscripts of Holy Quran gifted to Faisal Masjid
Donated by Prof Zahid Butt, the copies will go on display after 10 days

A hundred rare manuscripts of the Holy Quran, some dating back to the 14th century, have been gifted to Faisal Masjid and will be put up for public display after 10 days.
These sets of Holy Quran have been donated by Professor Zahid Butt for Faisal Masjid on the special request of Capital Development (CDA) Member Administration Yasir Pirzada. These manuscripts of the Holy Quran are unique in nature and some are 200 to 700 years old.
Pirzada said that these copies of the Holy Quran would be available for public view after 10 days. The Faisal Masjid administration has made arrangements to exhibit these copies. In addition of these rare copies of the Holy Quran, samples of calligraphy would also be placed at the Faisal Masjid for general public. Pirzada has declared these copies of Holy Quran as the best gift for residents of Islamabad.

He said that thousands of people visit the mosque regularly, while a large number of people also offer Taraweeh prayers at the mosque during the holy month of Ramazan.
Pirzada said that a considerable number of people also attend Mehfil-e-Shabina in last three days of Ramazan and a large number of people perform aittikaf at the masjid, therefore thousands of people will get the opportunity to view these unique and rare copies of Holy Quran.
Pirzada directed to take special protection measures for these manuscripts.
