PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has been informed that the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesperson, Ehsanullah Ehsan, is still being investigated and will be presented before a military court for trial after the probe is completed.

A divisional bench of the PHC, comprising Justice Qaiser Rashid and Justice Syed Afsar Shah, was on Tuesday hearing a writ petition filed by Fazal Khan advocate, asking the court to direct the federal government to present Ehsan in the court for trail.

Khan had said Ehsan had been in the custody of security forces for over a year, but was not presented in any court for trial. He told the court that families of the victims of the Army Public School (APS) massacre feared that the terrorist might be granted clemency.

The court directed the federal government and the security agencies to deal with Ehsan under the laws, reiterating the court’s earlier order that the TTP’s former spokesperson did not deserve clemency and must not be released.

Deputy Attorney General Musarrat Ullah told the court that Ehsan was still under investigation and once the investigation was completed, he would be presented in the military court.

In its previous hearing, the bench had allowed the government to continue the probe, forbidding Ehsan’s release on any grounds.
