Suspects in Zafir Zubairi case declared guilty of murder
They have also been declared guilty of attempted murder, possession of unlicenced weapons, robbery

The inquiry into the killing of Zafir Zubairi has been completed by Sahil police station Investigation Officer Amir Altaf. On Monday, the police submitted the final challan of the case before a District South judicial magistrate.
According to case challan, Zafir was accompanied by a friend on the day of his murder near Sea View. He was killed by Khawar Burney after their cars met in a minor collision. Khawar was identified by suspect Muhammad Rahim and two eye-witnesses while Hussain, Raza and Hasan Burney were acquitted after the police failed to present witnesses to identify them. According to the challan, bullet shells recovered from the crime scene belonged to Khawar’s pistol.

Abdul Rehman, an eyewitness in the case, identified the suspect before a judicial magistrate. Zafir was killed and his friend Zaid sustained bullet injuries when Khawar opened fire on them. Junaid Shah, one of Khawar’s accomplices, confessed during police interrogation. The accused have been declared guilty of murder and attempted murder charges as well as charges related to possessing unlicenced weapons and robbery. Due to the absence of witnesses and identification, the court acquitted Hasan, Hussain and Raza in the case. According to police, two other accused, Hammad and Danish, have been declared fugitives.
An additional district session judge on Monday rejected an application for a bail extension filed by Hammad, a key suspect in the murder case. After the District South judge rejected the application, Hammad fled the court premises while the police failed to get a hold of him.
