E-policing: Go paperless, IGP tells precincts

Says will hire technology officials for modern police stations, computerise records

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police Sultan Azam Temuri has directed officers to switch to an online system of registering FIRs amid a shift towards a paperless culture in precincts.

He also said that he would monitor the performance of seven model police stations which have been established in the capital apart from working to computerise the records of all police stations in the city.

He said this while presiding over a meeting held at the Central Police Office (CPO) to review the crime and security situation in the city. DIG (Operations and Security) Waqar Ahmad Chohan, SSP Operations Najeebur Rehman Bugvi, SSP Security Jamil Ahmad Hashmi, SP Investigation, all zonal SPs, all SDPOs, SHOs and officials from legal branch officers were present on the occasion.

The IGP directed to monitor and supervise seven model police stations and to
bring the working environment of reporting rooms of the remaining 15 police stations at par with model police stations.

He also asked to devise a mechanism for getting citizens' feedback about the environment at model police stations.

He said that all existing and future model police stations should have a post for a technological officer who should be well-versed in latest technologies relating to policing functions.

IGP Temuri directed to follow a paper-free culture and to focus on e-policing, apart from computerising records of all police stations on a daily basis. He added that 80 per cent of the work carried out at the central police office (CPO) has been made paper-free.

The police chief asked for online registration of First Information Reports (FIRs).

Temuri added that the only focus of investigation officers should be to resolve cases on an immediate basis.

The Islamabad police chief asked for a friendly policing environment and to serve the people with commitment and dedication. He directed for immediate redressal of complaints and concerns of the people and to seek suggestions from people through social media networks or through WhatsApp groups.

He asked the police officials to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against social crimes and curb activities of elements involved in it.

The IGP asked for immediate action on cases registered under 489-F PPC, 406-PPC.

Temuri asked for strict action against those illegally occupying property of others and to provide relief to the citizens.



He directed that the Islamabad Police should launch a crackdown against the drug mafia operating in educational institutions within Islamabad Capital Territory and to launch an awareness campaign against drugs and narcotics.

Strict vigilance and monitoring of guesthouses within Islamabad Capital Territory should be ensured by Islamabad Police, he said, adding that guests staying there would have to register themselves through an app introduced for the purpose.

Islamabad Police should also prepare a security protocol for the upcoming General Election-2018.

This security protocol should be distributed among all the stakeholders.
