Balochistan Planning and Development Secretary Asfandyar Khan Kakar has said that active collaboration between industry and training institutes for delivery of vocational training will enable the youth to attain better opportunities to earn a decent livelihood.

“The provincial government is giving high priority to skill development for provision of employable skills among the youth,” said Kakar while addressing the audience at the launch of the Workplace-based Training in Balochistan at a local hotel on Thursday.

The ceremony was supported by the TVET Sector Support Programme which is funded by the European Union and the governments of Germany and Norway and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in close collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), TEVTAs and a number of organisations from public and private sectors across Pakistan.

The ceremony marked the start of various vocational training programmes, which focus on active involvement of industry at various levels of delivery.

Kakar hoped that these new trainings would benefit the young men and women of the province to earn better living in various demand-driven trades. “The workplace-based training projects, as rightly pointed out promote an active partnership between training providers in the vocational training sector and business associations to link training closely to the requirements of employers,” he added.

Speaking at the ceremony, TVET Sector Support Programme National Deputy Coordinator Raja Saad Khan opined that this unique and latest training approach would encourage training institutes and enterprises to link theory with practical training at workplace.

In this regard, both sides could agree on flexible approaches in training delivery, which met demands of involved enterprises, such as cooperative training, on-the-job training and teaching faculty.
