PES DG addresses new recruits
Terms training as the backbone of success in rescue operations
LAHORE:
Nobody can perform operational duties outstandingly without professional training, commitment and devotion, said Punjab Emergency Service Director General Rizwan Naseer on Thursday.
Only training distinguishes one person from the other as it is the backbone of success in rescue operations. The highest standards of training have recognised rescuers at a national and international level, he added.
He expressed these views while addressing the 945 new recruits enrolled in the Basic-28 course from across the province.
Naseer elaborated that PES has provided emergency care to over 5.5 million victims across the province while maintaining an average response time of seven minutes. He added that the service had also prevented property loss of more than Rs270 billion by responding to fires.
The DG also lauded the efforts of Former Member of the Scottish Parliament Hanzala Malik, whom he credited with providing emergency services to the citizens of Punjab. He also thanked Malik and the Glasgow Fire Service for providing training and assistance for the establishment of the Rescue 1122 fire service.
PES started as ambulance service in Lahore, he reminisced. Now, the service has become a model for the SAARC region.
“After the army, Rescue 1122 is the only institution which has maintained its standards. You have to serve the humanity without discriminating between the rich and poor; all human beings are equal,” said Hanzala Malik.
