‘Need to promote science education’

Budget of some European universities is more than total funds of all Pakistani universities

In view of increasing demand and popular support, there is need to devise a comprehensive policy to promote science education.

This was said by Punjab Higher Education Commission Chairperson Dr Nizamuddin while addressing the sixth International Conference on education titled Science beyond Classroom at University of Education, a press release issued on Thursday stated.

Science education key to nation’s future

On the occasion, University of Education Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam said that such type of conferences always help in promoting the culture of research and knowledge.  He said, “It is our pride to hold the international conference at University of Education, which has become a regular feature.”


The vice-chancellor expressed his gratitude that renowned educationists from America, Canada, China, Malaysia, India and UK are participating in the conference. He said, “Our focus will be on applied knowledge regarding science education during the conference.”

He pointed out that the budget of some European universities was far more than the total budget of all Pakistani universities. “But despite our financial constraints and other hindrances, universities in Pakistan are performing well which should be acknowledged,” he maintained.

Meanwhile, chief organiser of the conference Dr Muhammad Alam Saeed said, “The objective of the conference is to bridge the gap between applied knowledge and what is being taught.”
