The residents of Karachi spent a third day without milk on Thursday due to the government’s mismanagement.
The shortage of milk was due to a shutter down strike by retailers, who are protesting against the official milk rates.
The administration either has a lack of interest in resolving the issue or a lack of vision, lamented a resident of the city who had been trying to find milk for the past two hours.
The Karachi commissioner, who has a major role in the setting the prices of commodities, failed to bring all the stakeholders on the same page.

When approached by The Express Tribune, the commissioner was not available to speak about the issue.
On the other hand, some shops started to sell milk at Rs100 per litre, not observing the official rates. Others sold milk at the official rate of Rs85 per litre and made a loss, as they purchased it from wholesalers for Rs94 per litre in the evening.
A milk retailer, requesting anonymity, said he cannot see the issue being resolved amicably by the commissioner’s office.
