‘Delayed’ treatment: Police constable shoots in hospital, injures two

A policeman shot and injured three people at General Hospital on Tuesday over an alleged delay in treatment of an injured colleague.


Muhafiz Squad Constable Amjad Khan, 28, was injured in a shootout with two robbers.

Khan was taken to General Hospital by his colleague Constable Shaukat Masih.


Masih got furious over a delay in starting the treatment and shouted at the hospital staff present in the ward.

He also took out a gun and allegedly shot at the receptionist, Zeeshan Cheema and a hospital pharmacist, Muhammad Ishhaq. Ishhaq; a visitor, Ali, 17, and his mother Bushra were injured. Masih then fled away.

Kot Lakhpat police have registered an FIR against Masih under Section 324, attempted murder, on the complaint of Haji Qurban, a relative of the injured mother and son.

Qurban said that he was assisting his relative, Bushra, and her sons to the hospital when they saw Masih misbehaving with the staff.

“He fired at least five times. Terror spread in the entire hospital,” he said.
