Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa today at the General Headquarters, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security came under discussion. The ambassador appreciated Pakistan Army’s achievements and efforts for peace and stability in the region.

COAS appreciates operational readiness of troops deployed along eastern border

Earlier, the Army chief visited Bahawalpur Corps headquarters wherein he was presented a detailed briefing on the operational preparedness of troops.“The COAS appreciated the Corps for keeping themselves well prepared for response against any threat on eastern border as per assigned tasks,” the military's media wing said on Wednesday.

The ISPR quoted General Qamar as saying that ‘commitments to conventional combat had not compromised attention on responding to conventional threats. Rather, this had enhanced confidence and made the force battle-hardened.’ Commander Multan Corps was also present on the occasion, the ISPR added.
