Virtual University convocation: Degrees conferred on 2,026 students

Pupils awarded 16 gold medals, five tablets and 45 certificates of merit

Virtual University to open 30 more campuses across country.

LAHORE:
A total of 2026 students were conferred degrees for various programmes at the 9th convocation of Virtual University (VU) on Wednesday.

The graduating students were awarded 16 gold medals and five computer tablets, while 45 certificates of merit were given to the outstanding pupils. Major General Obaid Khan was the chief guest for the occasion.

VU Rector Dr Naveed Malik said that the varsity is promoting research among its students. He added that a fully equipped mobile laboratory for life sciences students is underway.

He also informed the audience of VU’s achievements, specifically the fact that they won the DigiSkills training project that is designed to train one million people across the country. This programme will impart digital skills to the youth of Pakistan, he said.

Malik also applauded VU students on securing a position at Huawei’s International ICT Skill Competition and winning the Best Research Paper Award from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Congratulating the students, he advised them to use their knowledge and skills to make an extraordinary difference. He urged them to always remain committed to their profession, to constantly improve their skills and to continue learning.

Addressing the ceremony, Major General Obaid Khan appreciated the role VU has played in promoting quality education across the country.
