ISLAMABAD:
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has, in principle, approved a move to add another lane to the overburdened Park Road to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

A CDA official said that the 12-feet expanded lane, with an additional five feet of stretched shoulder on the dual carriage-way, would help ease traffic congestion on the road which also serves as an only alternative route to the Express Highway.

Requesting not to be named since he was not authorised to talk to the media, the official said the eight-kilometre-long passageway would cost Rs509 million to build with almost 20 signboards, five U-Turns and cat eyes,” he informed.

He said the CDA was cognisant of the burden on the road as a number of times in sit-ins and protests on the Islamabad Express Highway had forced traffic on to Park Road leading to severe congestion.
