Funds released for FATA explained
Out of the total allocation of Rs24.01 billion, the federal government released Rs8.802 billion
A statement issued by the secretariat’s spokesperson stated that the federal government released Rs4.8 billion on August 3, 2017, which is 20 per cent of the total block allocation of Rs24.01 billion, adding that the released amount was distributed for ongoing schemes of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) Annual Development Programme for the fiscal year 2017-18.
The second instalment of Rs4 billion was released on January 13, 2018, adding after receipt of the fund [Rs4 billion], the secretariat during the third week of January, distributed the funds to different sectors for utilisation of developmental schemes.
It transpires that out of the total allocation of Rs24.01 billion for developmental schemes, the federal government, until January 2018, has released Rs8.802 billion, leaving a balance of Rs15.208 billion which will be released in the third and fourth quarters at a ratio of Rs6 billion (25 per cent) and Rs9.602 billion (35 per cent) respectively.
Out of the two quarter releases of Rs8.802 billion and Rs6.4 billion, 77 per cent have been utilised until February adding that the same expenditures for last the financial year until February was 70 per cent, where at the same time stated the remaining amount will be utilized by the end of financial year 2017-18.
