Indian players to compete in Pakistan
Pakistan tennis coach behind efforts to organise Indo-Pak matches.
KARACHI:
Pakistan tennis coach Birbal Wadhera has revealed that he is making efforts to organise a series against India. The Indian, who is currently training 22 Pakistani players in Lahore, said that the series would be organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) next month.
Wadhera said that he will be inviting players from Chandigarh and Delhi to test the skills of their Pakistani counterparts, who have been deprived of international competition.
“I’m trying to get the players from both the countries together because I want Pakistan tennis to develop,” Wadhera told The Express Tribune. “If we succeed in organising the tournament it’ll open the way for Pakistani players to come to India. However, I do believe that my camp won’t be enough and the PTF needs to set its priority right.
Do they want players like Aisamul Haq Qureshi, who have the calibre to play in international tournaments, or do they want local players who can just take part in local championships?”
