CTPL set to establish electronic testing centre
Asks contractors to submit their bidding documents by March 19

The City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) is all set to establish an Electronic Testing Centre (ETC) and has also invited contractors to submit their bidding documents by March 19.
A senior officer of CTPL told The Express Tribune that these e-testing centers will initially be established at traffic police lines.
According to the CTPL documents available with The Express Tribune, the ETC will have video cameras with stand and cover for driving testing vehicles. This will also have a computer system with 15 screen display. Any candidate can appear for the test on this system. He or she will take the driving test on screen and computerised jockeys will be installed on the system.
The document stated the centre will also have a networking switch system having auto-sensing ports, quality of service traffic prioritisation and power-saving among other features. As the establishment of ETC was a part of automation of traffic policing, the centre will also have an automated queue management system.
In the queue management system, the centre will have ticket dispensers having touch system and giving customised on-screen service selection as per requirement of the customer.
An officer of CTPL said that the establishment of such testing centres will solve many problems of the police and citizens. The electronic system will not be proficient, but brings transparency.
In the manual system, there were gaps that could be used for favouring unduly in issuing licenses. It caused a lot of delays also and people had to wait in long queues for long hours.
