Three arrested as Zardari takes notice of gang-rape of minor in Nawabshah

Three have been arrested so far, minor left paralysed after being thrown off a three-storey building

Three have been arrested for their involvement in the rape of a 13-year-old girl in the Qazi Ahmed town of Nawabshah district.

The three suspects - namely, Ashiq, Fayyaz and Kamran - have been taken in custody of the police. According to Investigation Officer Shahnawaz of PS Qazi Ahmed, 13-year-old Khaira Bagri, daughter of Mangi Bagri, was raped and thrown off a three-storey building.

An FIR has been registered in the Qazi Ahmed police station, FIR no 59/18 with charges of rape under Section 376/2 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC). Bagri is now admitted in Nawabshah Hospital, according to Shahnawaz.

The incident, which took place on Friday, left the girl paralysed after she was thrown off the building. The fall left her injured with multiple fractures on the backbone.

Investigation is still underway, the arrested are to be taken on remand soon, the IO confirmed

Former president and Co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari took strict notice of the news pertaining to the rape of minor girl in Nawabshah.

The PPP chief has directed the provincial government to ensure that such criminals are brought to justice. "Incidents like these are intolerable and unpardonable," he said. "Culprits behind such abuses cannot be allowed to escape punishment."

The former president also expressed condolences to the victim’s family, directing the authorities to ensure best treatment and speedy recovery of the minor girl.
