The proceedings in the formula milk case hearing took an interesting turn on Saturday when senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan, who was fined yesterday, asked Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) if he was "under stress", Express News reported.

On Friday, Aitzaz was handed Rs10,000 fine during the formula milk hearing in the Supreme Court's Lahore registry. Ahsan was representing Meiji Formula Milk Company in the sou motu case.

During today's hearing, the lawyer told the CJP that he didn't appear before the court for a single day and was fined Rs10,000. He quipped that "he wasn't fined 10 paisas even in the school."

Why does Maryam relate all thief references with Nawaz, wonders Aitzaz Ahsan

The lawyer further said that he had requested for the hearing to be postponed as he remained engaged in a farewell ceremony of senators in Islamabad.

At this, the report added, the CJP said that he had fined the counsel's associate, not him and that it wasn't mentioned in the written order. Aitzaz asked as to why even the associate was fined, saying the CJP could've mentioned that in the written order.

Justice Nisar responded that on the counsel's insistence he can have that written in the order. Aitzaz was quoted in the report as saying, Chief Justice you seem to be under stress. But Justice Nisar said that he isn't under stress, asking the lawyer as to who had told him that.
