LAHORE:
Prices of most winter vegetables are touching their lowest levels of the season owing to surplus supply in city markets but in weekly Sunday Bazaars district administration has failed to ensure availability of several commodities.

A market survey shows that prices of most seasonal vegetables had witnessed a sharp decline during the past couple of weeks. However, the benefit of declining prices cannot be passed to consumers in weekly makeshift markets due to the negligence of district administration.

Speaking to The Express Tribune in Model Town Sunday Bazaar, a shopper Nadia Bibi complained that several vendors in the makeshift market are overcharging consumers but no government official is present in the market to stop profiteering. She pointed out that most vendors were selling brinjals, capsicums, cauliflowers, ginger, pumpkin, cabbage and green chilies at higher rates.
