Lost record of ZAB case presented in SC

CJ says court found references from the record indicating Bhutto case inquiry had been conducted thoroughly.

The Attorney General on Monday presented the lost record of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's case in the Supreme Court (SC), hearing a reference against Bhutto's capital punishment.

The record was earlier reported as lost from the Ichra Police Station in Lahore, where a murder case was registered against former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto in 1974.

The eleven member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had directed the Punjab Advocate General to present the FIR and other records of the Bhutto case in the court. The court was informed that the record has been retrieved from the FIA. The attorney general was directed to submit the record to the registrar office.

The chief justice observed that the court has found enough references from the record, which says the inquiry of Bhutto case was conducted with attention to every aspect.

The Chief Justice directed the Punjab advocate general to also produce the Justice Shafiqur Rehman report on the Bhutto case.
