To Address Civic Woes: ‘Private sector can develop new cities’
"new planned and systematic city should be developed between Lahore and Faisalabad"
FAISALABAD:
Unplanned expansion of major cities like Faisalabad and Lahore have created multiple civic, social and administrative problems, said Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) President Shabbir Hussain Chawla. Speaking at a meeting of the FCCI Standing Committee on Real Estate, he suggested that a new planned and systematic city should be developed between Lahore and Faisalabad, instead of expanding the existing cities. He said the government should encourage private sector to develop new and planned cities to provide reasonable residences to the growing population. The FCCI president outlined the ‘Made in Faisalabad’ expo schedule and urged committee members to actively participate in the exhibition which was going to be held in Lahore’s Expo Centre on March 24-25.
