South City Hospital (SCH) has confirmed that Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharjeel Inam Memon needs disc replacement surgery, but since the procedure is 'complex and high risk' it therefore cannot be performed at SCH.
In a letter addressed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre's (JPMC) Chairperson of Special Medical Board AR Jamali, the hospital has recommended that the procedure be performed in a European country, due to the advanced medical technology there. The checkup was conducted in compliance with the orders of the accountability court, which ordered a second opinion to be obtained in Memon's case.

Doctors at the JPMC examined Memon on Monday and noted that he displayed weakness in his right big toe and restricted movement in his right shoulder and advised physiotherapy and medicine.
A notification letter was also written by the Central Prison, Karachi SSP, informing the Sindh Assembly secretary that Memon was unable to attend the session on February 23 due to 'severe backache'.
