Cases against Naqeebullah, others were fake: police report

FIR registered against those involved in registering fake cases

KARACHI: The investigation team submitted on Saturday its report on former Malir SSP Rao Anwar's encounter in the administrative court of the anti-terrorism court (ATC). The report declared five cases against Naqeebullah Mehsud, others and the police encounter 'bogus'.

A member of the investigation team, Counter-Terrorism Department DIG Amir Farooqi, has said that cases have been registered against those involved in the fake encounter.

The report pertaining to the Naqeebullah murder case was submitted in the Sindh High Court. The investigation team termed the cases bogus and police encounter fake, while the team presented a B-class report in cases against Naqeebullah and others.

Naqeebullah murder case: DSP remanded to police custody

No evidence was found against Naqeebullah during the investigation, neither was evidence of weapon recovery found.

The high court sent the report to ATC-II. DIG Farooqi, in an informal exchange, said that cases registered against Naqeebullah were bogus and the police encounter was fake. He said that cases against those involved were registered and three aides of SSP Anwar had been arrested. The aides facilitated SSP Anwar's hiding.
