Removing Epd’s Seal : Steel rerolling unit faces prosecution
The Environment Protection Department (EPD) lodged an FIR against a steel rerolling unit.

The Environment Protection Department (EPD) on Saturday lodged an FIR against a steel rerolling unit in Mominpura for removing the seal the EPD had put to stop its working. Barkat Rerolling Mills and 18 other units were sealed for failing to meet environmental standards, Deputy District Officer Younus Zahid said. He said the units were using substandard fuel and causing air pollution. He said the steel manufacturing units in northern Lahore were a major source of air pollution. He said cases of 125 such units had been sent to an environmental tribunal under the Punjab Local Government Ordinance and the Environment Protection Act.
