Man nabbed for ‘sexually assaulting stepdaughter’ in Karachi

KARACHI:
Police arrested on Sunday a man for allegedly sexually assaulting his stepdaughter in the outskirts of Karachi.

Police officials said a case had been registered against Sajid Panwar, a scrap dealer by profession. He was arrested during a raid at his residence in Qazzafi Town that falls within the remits of the Shah Latif Town police station.

SHO Ghaffar Shah said Panwar was arrested on a complaint registered by a woman, M*, who had her second marriage with him around two years ago. According to the SHO, the woman claimed that she found her six-year-old daughter in an unconscious condition after she returned home from a market. The woman added that the accused and victim were alone at the house when she was away.


ATC orders arrest of absconding accused

SHO Shah further said that the victim was immediately rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where doctors kept her report reserved. He added that the police registered a rape case against the accused on the basis of the statement of the victim's mother and the circumstantial evidence which suggested that the minor was sexually assaulted.

Further investigations are under way.
