KARACHI: Police arrested on Sunday a man for allegedly sexually assaulting his stepdaughter in the outskirts of Karachi.

Police officials said a case had been registered against Sajid Panwar, a scrap dealer by profession. He was arrested during a raid at his residence in Qazzafi Town that falls within the remits of the Shah Latif Town police station.

SHO Ghaffar Shah said Panwar was arrested on a complaint registered by a woman, M*, who had her second marriage with him around two years ago. According to the SHO, the woman claimed that she found her six-year-old daughter in an unconscious condition after she returned home from a market. The woman added that the accused and victim were alone at the house when she was away.
