MULTAN: The construction of the new public park - Eidgah - is in its final stages and shall open by April, said Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) spokesman Jalaluddin on Saturday.

The PHA has spent Rs2 million from its own resources constructing the park. Construction has been completed on the light installations, gate, boundary wall, tiling and plantation. Landscaping is in its final stages, he added.

The park was being constructed near Chungi No 9 in order to provide a recreational spot for the citizens. The development work would be completed in March and by April it would be open for the public.  Arrangements for a flower show in collaboration with Jashan-e-Baharan have been completed, he added. Various types of flowers were on display at the green belts of the city.

He said that the flower show would be organized in the third week of March at either Shah Shams park or Qasim Fort park and would continue for a month.
