Justice Nisar orders IG Punjab Prisons to present findings to SC within three days

ISLAMABAD:
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has called Inspector General (IG) Punjab Prisons to present a report regarding Nehal Hashmi to the Supreme Court (SC) within three days.

Justice Nisar said that he wants the report to verify the position of Nehal Hashmi while in custody, and to clarify whether he is currently in prison, or admitted, shifted to a nearby hospital.

Earlier, the SC had rejected the unconditional apology of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Nehal Hashmi in a contempt of court case and sentenced him to one month jail time.


The three-judge bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa had announced the verdict against Hashmi for delivering hate speech against judges. Hashmi, along with the jail sentence, was also ordered to pay a fine of Rs50,000.

Senator Hashmi was admitted to Adiala Jail hospital on Friday, after he complained of chest pain, reported Express News.
