Urgently needed: No child psychiatrist in govt hospitals
PIMS to have a separate psychiatric department
ISLAMABAD:
State Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary on Wednesday informed the Senate that the Planning Commission has approved to set up a separate psychiatrist department in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) with an estimated cost of Rs7 billion.
Responding to a calling attention notice by Tahir Hussain Mashhadi regarding non-availability of even a single child psychiatrist in the hospitals in Islamabad, the minister admitted that currently no child psychiatrist was deputed in the government hospitals.
The minister however added that psychiatrists were available in four hospitals except NIRM Islamabad.
