DSP dodges death as gunman hurt in Karachi firing incident
Police say investigation underway to ascertain whether the official was the prime target of the attack
KARACHI:
A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of Sindh police remained unhurt while his gunman was wounded in a firing incident near Baloch colony, Karachi on Tuesday evening.
Unidentified persons opened fire when the mobile van of DSP Iffat Chaudhry, who is posted in police headquarters, East zone was passing through the colony, said Karachi police spokesperson.
The DSP's gunman, constable Karamat Hussain was injured in the firing. Hussain was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors termed his condition stable.

A heavy contingent of law enforcers reached the site and collected the evidence. Officials said the case is being investigated from different angles whether the DSP was the target of the attack.
A case of the incident has not yet been registered.
IGP Sindh Allah Dino Khawaja also took a notice of the incident and sought a report from the District South SSP Javed Akbar Riaz over the incident.
