SC order regarding oil tankers still not implemented
KARACHI:
The Supreme Court order regarding the removal of oil tankers from Shireen Jinnah colony in Karachi had not been implemented till Wednesday.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry had ordered the Karachi Port Trust to hand over the possession of an alternative plot to oil tanker owners.
However, the Oil Tankers Association said the tankers will only be transferred when KPT and the city government provides them with levelled land for parking.
In compliance with the court orders, the Sindh chief minister had also approved the allotment of 150 acres for the parking of oil tankers in Zulfiqarabad.
