OLMT worker dies of electrocution
Around 40 people have died in the accidents on OMLT tracks so far
LAHORE:
A labourer died of electrocution while working on the Orange Line Metro Train Project (OLMT) near Samanabad Morr in Gulshan-e-Ravi on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Bilal Ahmed, touched an electric wire while transferring an electric pole from one place to another. He was admitted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Rs16 billion relocation compensation paid to OLMT victims
Police collected forensic evidence and recorded statements of the witnesses.
This is not the first incident in which death of a labourer took place while working on the project. Around 40 people have died in the accidents on OMLT tracks so far.
OLMT to start running from Feb 28
In January 2016, two workers employed at the OLMT project died when a crane, they were operating, had touched an electric wire near Thokar Niaz Beg in the limits of Nawab Town police station. A week later, an old man died killed in a road accident when a vehicle working on the project hit him in Sabzazar.
In January 2017, seven workers burnt alive in Manawan. The victims were living in a make-shift place, which caught fire all of a sudden. They sustained burns and died.
