LHC takes suo moto notice, Police arrest Dasti's brother
LAHORE:
Muzaffargarh police arrested MNA elect Jamshed Dasti's brother along with six security guards on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the chief justice of Lahore High Court had taken a suo moto notice of torture on doctors by Jamshed Dasti, his security guards and 23 other people during a protest in Muzaffargarh.
LHC CJ Khawaja Muhammad Shareef on Wednesday ordered the DPO of Muzaffargarh to present the record of the case in court on May 27th.
In related developments, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also ordered an immediate inquiry in this case. An inquiry committee has been constituted for the purpose.
On Tuesday, Police registered a case against the PPP MNA and 20 other persons. Dasti and his guards allegedly attacked doctors and nurses of Muzaffargarh District Hospital, accused of medical negligence.
After the incident, on the appeal of Pakistan Medical Association, doctors all over Punjab are observing strike.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the patient who allegedly died due to medical neglignce are demanding the arrest of the doctors involved.
