PESHAWAR:
The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday has directed the police to arrest and present the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa secretaries for finance and worker welfare fund after they failed to appear before the court. A two-member bench of the PHC comprising of Justice Ikramullah Khan and Justice Ghazanfar Ali Khan were hearing a writ petition filed by Muhammad Younas Marwat, who told the court that they have not been paid their salaries for the past four months. At the previous hearing of the case, the court had directed the finance secretary and the worker’s welfare fund secretary to appear before the court and explain the reasons behind not paying the salaries. The two officials, however, failed to appear before the court on Thursday. A legal advisor to the board, who appeared before the court, was asked to explain the issues to court. To the court’s shock, the advisor said that the too has not been paid for several months and was unable to offer any explanation on the issue.
