An explosion in Charmang, Bajaur Agency early Wednesday morning injured several people. The target of the attack is said to be a tribal leader, Malik Farooq, who sustained injuries in the explosion and later succumbed to them. The injured have been shifted to Headquarter Hospital.

Security forces reached the scene of the explosion and cordoned off the area. Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) have claimed responsibility for the attack.

In December, last year three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel embraced martyrdom in a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) blast in North Waziristan Agency. An Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said, “The FC’s bomb disposal team was conducting a routine search and clear operation [in the village of] Ghulam Khan near the Pak-Afghan border when they [team members] embraced martyrdom.”
