Annual exhibition: 239 works by Punjab artists go on display

The exhibition of paintings, graphics and sculptures will continue till May 18.

A total of 239 art works went on display at the Alhamra on The Mall at the opening of the 25th Annual Exhibition of the Artists Association of Punjab on Thursday. The exhibition of paintings, graphics and sculptures was inaugurated by Professor Ijazul Hassan. Former foreign minister Sardar Assef Ahmad Ali was the chief guest.



Works by Mian Ijazul Hassan, Ghulam Mustafa, Dr Rahat Masood, Zara David, Chitra Pretum, Ahmad Khan, Quddus Mirza, Khalid Mehmood and Iqbal Hussain were among those on display. David’s contribution was an idyllic landscape scene in mixed media on canvas measuring three feet by five feet. “This is my view of my homeland. There is peace in this painting that is now missing from our country,” she said. Two works by Mustafa were displayed, Wazir Khan Mosque and Green Balcony. “Most of my work is about my love for the Old City. It has a strong hold over my imagination,” he said.  The exhibition continues till May 18.
