A district leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) was gunned down in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Sunday morning, according to reports.

Malik Tufail was shot dead in the Ghoriwala neighbourhood of Bannu district by unknown assailants riding motorbikes. Sources told reporters that the gunmen fled the scene unchallenged.

JI demands death penalty for ‘honour’ killing

Police have begun search operations in the area in order to arrest the culprits. A case has also been filed at Ghoriwala police station against unknown suspects, officials said.

JI MPA, driver injured in car crash  

Earlier this week, at least eight members of a family, including two minor girls, were killed and another man was injured in a landmine blast in Kurram Agency.

According to hospital sources, the family was traveling from Muqbal area near the border to attend a funeral in Upper Kurram’s Basu area when their vehicle hit a landmine killing three women, two minor girls and three men on the spot. The car was completely destroyed in the blast.
