For another day: CM’s defamation suit against PTI chief adjourned
Counsel for Imran Khan failed to appear in court Friday
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions court on Friday adjourned the hearing of a defamation suit of Rs.10billion moved by Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif against PTI Chairman Imran Khan after the counsel for the latter failed to appear for a hearing held on Friday.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif filed an application, seeking an early verdict over his defamation suit. The CM pleaded that PTI lawyers were using delaying tactics to make the matter linger on over pretext or another.
The chief minister’s counsel Mustafa Ramday argued that Imran Khan leveled false allegations of bribery against his client Shehbaz Sharif.
He said Imran Khan had claimed to the media in April that a common friend offered him Rs10 billion on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to remain silent over the Panama papers case.
