Healthcare professionals visit medical colleges for inspection

LAHORE: Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) Secretary Najam Ahmad Shah visited Government Khwaja Safdar Medical College Sialkot on Thursday and discussed the educational activities with the college principal Professor Dr Zafar Ali Chaudhry. The secretary also took a round of the medical college. Later, Shah inspected the inseminator installed for the hospital waste management. Prof Chaudhry informed the secretary that the inseminator was burning hazardous waste of 71 public and private hospitals and laboratories including the waste of Government Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital, Government Sardar Begum Hospital Sialkot and Tehsil Headquarter Hospital Daska. He informed the secretary that the machine was disposing hundred kilogrammes of waste per hour at the temperature of seven to eight hundred centigrade Celsius. Health secretary directed that proper maintenance of the inseminator must be insured so that the machine could maintain its efficiency and remain functional for a long time.
