Man sentenced to death in murder case

The prosecution told the court that convict Jamshed had shot dead passerby Kamran during a clash

SARGODHA: Additional District and Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Ranjha handed down a death sentence to a man in a murder case in Sargodha on Thursday.

The prosecution told the court that Sher Ahmed, alias Sherry, had murdered Rana Yaqoob over an old enmity on December 17, 2009. However, the police arrested him and submitted a challan in court.

After hearing witnesses, the judge awarded a death sentence to Sher Ahmed. In addition, the court imposed a fine of Rs0.3 million on the convict which would be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased.

The convict was shifted to Sargodha District Jail.

Earlier, Additional District and Sessions Judge Ikramul Haq awarded life sentence to a man for killing another in Sialkot.

The prosecution told the court that convict Jamshed had shot dead passerby Kamran during a clash with his opponents. However, the police arrested him and submitted a challan in the court.
