Premier League clubs spend record £150m on transfer day deadline
Beat January 2011 total spending record of £205m with total business of £430m

English Premier League clubs went into frenzy as the transfer day deadline approached on Wednesday as they splashed out £150 million on the last day to break the 2011 record, according to Deloitte’s Sports Business Group.
The record of most business done on the last day of the transfer period set in 2011 was just under £140 million.
Also, the January window saw a total spending of £430m being done by the Premier League clubs, which is a new record and beats the earlier one set again in 2011 at £205m.
The most expensive move on Wednesday was of the Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who moved from German club Borussia Dortmun to Arsenal for a club record fee of £56m.
He was followed by French striker Olivier Giroud, who moved from Arsenal to Chelsea for £18m. Meanwhile, Brazilian winger Lucas Moura was signed by Tottenham Hotspur for £23m.
Earlier, in the January window Liverpool midfielder Phillipe Coutinho made a €160 million move from Liverpool to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Chelsea frontman Diego Costa rejoined Atletico Madrid after 2016-2017 Premier League Champions allowed him to leave for a €60 million fee.
