Kidnapped girl safely recovered after six days in Karachi
Two alleged kidnappers arrested in District South
KARACHI:
An eight-year-old girl was recovered safely on Wednesday by police from captivity six days after being kidnapped. The police also claimed to have arrested two suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping.
Fida Hussain, the father of the abducted girl, had registered a complaint with the Boat Basin police station on January 25 regarding the kidnapping of his daughter. According to the police, the complainant said in his statement that his eight-year-old daughter Laraib had been kidnapped. The father accused two persons, Nazeran Bibi alias Rani and Nazar Muhammad alias Malang, of the kidnapping.

The police officials said the suspects also demanded ransom from the family and warned of dire consequence if they failed to pay the ransom. Following the case's registration, the police started investigations and after six days arrested both the suspects in District South and recovered the girl safely. Further investigations in the case are under way.
Separately, the Rangers arrested at least four suspects during ongoing targeted raids in parts of the city. The suspects included an alleged worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - London, Khurram alias Zafar Siddiqui, who was nabbed during a targeted raid in Gulberg. According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspect was involved in targeted killings and extortion.
A suspected extortionist, Saifullah, was arrested during a raid conducted in the Saudabad area. Two more suspects, Ovais Ahmed and Khalid Khan, were arrested by the paramilitary force during raids in the Memon Goth and Awami Colony areas respectively.
