SUKKUR:
A rally was organised in Mirpur Mathelo to urge people to enrol their children, especially girls, in government schools.
Hundreds of residents, led by the Ghotki district coordination officer (DCO), Zahid Ali Abbasi, and the Ghotki education executive district officer (EDO), Ghulam Sarwar Khokhar, marched from government high school to Clock Tower.
“In government schools we don’t charge students any fee and provide free books to the students,” said EDO Khokar.
“We also give a stipend of Rs2,400 per year to female students from class VI to class X.”
The enrollment campaign at the union council, taluka and district levels is held every year to motivate parents and children. This year the campaign started on April 12 and will continue till May 12.
The government hopes to get 260,000 students by May 12.
