Reach logical end in Zainab’s murder probe, IGP tells JIT
Says action will be taken against those hindering legal proceedings

Reach a logical conclusion in Zainab murder case probe, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan tells Joint Investigations Team (JIT) on Monday.
He issued the instructions while chairing a meeting in view of the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s (SCP) orders to submit challan within two weeks in the said case. The meeting was held at Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore.
The meeting was presided over by Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan. JIT Head DIG Muhammad Idrees, Regional Police Officer Sheikhupura Zulfiqar Hameed, AIG Legal Abdul Rab and other police officers were present on the occasion.
The meeting reviewed progress in investigations in Zainab murder case. The JIT briefed IGP about the details of the investigations so far.
The IGP ordered JIT members to reach to a logical conclusion in the investigations as early as possible. He instructed them to complete all legal formalities of the case so that the aggrieved families could get justice.
Arif Nawaz asked them to use scientific as well as traditional means to evaluate evidences in the case. He instructed them to go all-out to collect facts about the incident to prepare a detailed and comprehensive report.
Meanwhile, a video link conference of all the Regional Police Officers (RPO) and District Police Officers (DPO) was also held at Central Police Office Lahore.
The meeting was presided over by IGP Arif Nawaz in which the crime graph in all the districts of Punjab from January 1 to December 31, 2017 was assessed. Acknowledging the progress of Faisalabad region, the IG Punjab praised RPO Faisalabad Bilal Saddique Kamyana for controlling crimes and considerable increase in submission of challans.
He directed all the RPOs and DPOs to follow parametres of reducing crime.
The IGP expressed anger upon DPOs of Okara, Kasur, Attok, Jehlum and DG Khan for rise in crimes and gave them one month deadline to improve their progress.
He maintained that cases of child abuse should be dealt on priority and immediate action should be taken against those officials who create hurdles in legal proceedings.
IGP Arif Nawaz directed officers to ensure establishment of Anti-Riot Force in all districts. He directed field officers that complaints received by Complaint Management System should be responded by respective DSPs within 8 hours and in case of dereliction, the DSPs should be ready to face strict disciplinary action.
