An intoxciated police official in Larkana drove his car over people sitting at a dhaba (tea-hotel) in the wee hours of Monday, killing two, Express News reported.

Sub-inspector, Ali Murtaza Chandio, early morning Monday drove his car over a group of people sitting at a dhaba which led to the death of two people on the spot and injured six others.

Tragic end: Two killed in road accident 

The dead and injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and were provided medical assistance. One of the injured is said to be in critical condition.

Sindh Interior Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal took notice of the incident and the sub-inspector has been taken into custody. Medical reports confirmed Murtaza Chandio was intoxicated at the time of the incident. Alcohol bottles were also recovered from his car.

In Larkana, the families of those who died have staged a protest against the police. According to them, the police in an effort to save their own are trying to obstruct the investigation and the arrest of Murtaza Chandio was merely a facade.

The protesters further said the Chief Justice of Pakistan should take notice of the incident and ensure justice.
