‘OLMT to facilitate 0.25m commuters daily’
The project will provide jobs to the residents of Lahore and also enhance the capacity of our workforce
LAHORE:
Adviser to Chief Minister and Orange Line Metro Train Lahore (OLMT) Steering Committee Chairman Khawaja Ahmed Hassan said the train would provide high class public transport to some 250,000 passengers daily.
He expressed these views at the second episode of the City Dialogue Series held at the Quaid-i-Azam Library on Saturday. He said horticulture aspects have been taken care of quite properly throughout the design and construction phases of the OLMT.
“The 10-foot-wide walkway at every station will be yet another relief for passengers, while feeder routes buses will be there with metro bus to accommodate the citizens who cannot approach the metro,” he said.
The City Dialogue, featuring the Orange Line Metro Train project, attracted a large number of people from Lahore and other cities. A senior team from the Urban Unit, Kinnaird College for Women Head of Environment Studies Dr Almas, renowned architect Fouzia Qureshi, MAO College Lahore Assistant Professor Atif Khalid, NESPAK Senior Environment Engineer Aman Ahmed and others attended the dialogue.
Hassan said the project was aligned with Lahore City’s Master Plan for maximum optimisation. “The project will not only provide plenty of jobs to the residents of Lahore, but will also enhance the capacity of our workforce.”
