Khatam-e-Nabuwwat amendment: Opposition demands making investigation report public
The report was prepared by PML-N leader Raja Zafarul Haq two months ago
LAHORE:
The opposition benches demanded of the government to make public the report prepared by Raja Zafarul Haq pertaining to an amendment in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat declaration.
The demand was made by Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) legislator Nabila Hakim Ali Khan through a resolution she submitted in the Punjab Assembly. She asked what sort of action the government had taken against the people allegedly involved in aforementioned amendment. She said the government amended the declaration upon which protests and violence started across the country.
She said it was astonishing that the investigation team prepared its report on the issue two months ago, but it was not made public.
She said removal of federal law minister Zahid Hamid was not the solution of the matter, adding Pakistan was a Muslim country and those who wished to eliminate this law, and wanted to introduce amendments according to their desires, should not be tolerated.
She demanded of the government that the report prepared by PML-N leader Raja Zafarul Haq be made to public and those responsible be brought to book.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Nabila said several weeks passed, but the report was not made public. She said the nation had strong reservations over the government’s action of introducing an amendment in the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat law.
