QUETTA: After seven pupils were injured and around 200 arrested in clashes between Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba and Baloch and Pashtun students at Punjab University on Monday, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo on Friday formed a committee to resolve the issues.

The committee is headed by Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who will fly to Lahore and meet the arrested students.

The committee will meet the Punjab University and government officials to resolve the issue and take up the matter of biased action against Baloch and Pashtun students.

Bizenjo slammed the Punjab government’s discriminatory behaviour with the Baloch and Pashtun students.

“Unilateral action against Baloch and Pashtun students will only spark more hatred,” the chief minister said, urging the Punjab government and police to take strict action against all students involved in clashes.

Around 37 students - majority of them Baloch and Pashtun - were charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act. This act of the Punjab police caused an outrage on social media with many using the hashtag #Studentsnoterrorist.

Bizenjo appealed to the students to show patience and assured them that the Balochistan government would take all measures to protect the students of Balochistan.
