CJP takes notice of rape, murder of minor girl in Mardan

ISLAMABAD:
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday took suo motu notice of rape and murder of a four-year-old girl found dead in a sugarcane field in Mardan on January 14.

The chief justice asked Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Inspector-General of Police Salahuddin Mehsud to submit a report on the case within 24 hours.

The court issued its orders soon after the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) concluded that the girl was raped before being murdered.

On January 17, the IGP K-P said that an autopsy report had confirmed that the minor girl was raped before being killed.

“Asma went missing in Gujjar Ghari area of Mardan on January 13 and her body was found the following afternoon,” Mehsud confirmed last week.

Meanwhile, the chief justice also took notice of movement of private planes/jets on all airports.

The CJP directed the director general, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Karachi to produce in court on January 27 (Saturday) at the Supreme Court Branch Registry Karachi, the record of movement of private planes/jets on all airports during the last 15 days.


The chief justice has also directed the director general to submit report about the inquiry/investigation pertaining to the appointments of pilots made on the basis of fake degrees/certificates.

Likewise, the top court has decided to take up the Zainab murder case on Sunday at its Lahore registry.

The bench also issued notice to Inspectors General Punjab police, prisons, DIG Malik Abu Bakar Khuda Bakhsh, Punjab police, Child Specialist Dr Naseem, Director General, Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), Dr Muhammad Ashraf Tahir and anchorperson Dr Shahid Masood.

Earlier, the hearing of case was fixed for January 29 (Monday).

The top court on Thursday ordered the Punjab police to probe Dr Shahid Masood’s claims that Zainab’s alleged murderer was part of an international racket involved in child pornography and that he held more than 37 foreign currency accounts.

Earlier, the court took notice of Dr Masood’s claims regarding Imran Ali, who allegedly abducted, raped and murdered six-year-old Zainab in Kasur earlier this month.

The bench asked the Punjab police to investigate whether the accused, as claimed by Dr Masood, was actually working for some international group involved in child abuse.
