Luminaries in different fields receive Hakim Mohammad Said Award
Recipients include Dr Attaur Rahman, Dr Adib Rizvi, Amjad Islam Amjad and Dr Abdul Bari Khan
An organisation should not hesitate to rebrand itself when the need for rebranding arises.
Governor Mohammad Zubair said this while speaking at Mohatta Palace at the presentation ceremony of awards named after Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Pakistan founder Hakim Mohammad Said. The governor appreciated Hamdard Laboratories Managing Director Sadia Rashid and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Usama Qureshi for rebranding the organisation and changing its logo.
Many living and deceased personalities were bestowed the Hakim Mohammad Said Award on the occasion in different categories. The honourees included Prof Dr Attaur Rahman, Sister Ruth Lewis, Anwar Maqsood, Dr Abdul Bari Khan, Aitzaz Hasan Bangash, Amjad Islam Amjad, Dr Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi, cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed, Bushra Rehman and Masood Ahmed Barakati.
"We salute and pay tribute to our national heroes for their exceptional dedication. They are the true hamdard [compassionate] as their devotion to Pakistan is an inspiration for all of us," the CEO said.
Journalists honoured for exceptional reporting on human rights
Zubair acknowledged services of the late Said for education and health in Pakistan. He called the Hamdard founder a great patriot and philanthropist. He also called for the inclusion of businessperson category in the award. Businesspersons promote trade and industry and provide employment to the public, which is a great service to the country, the governor asserted.
Serving humanity was a part of Said's faith, said Rashid, who is Said's daughter. She informed the gathering that when the company founded by her father started earning profit, he converted it into a non-profit organisation to use its income for health, education and public welfare.
